President's Letter 2012

Greetings and Happy New Year to WWGC Members:
It is with great pleasure that The Board of the WWGC welcomes you to another year of Tuesday golf, hopefully WARM and DRY!! In my recent meeting with Cortney and talking with Henry, barring any unexpected “WEATHER EVENTS” the course should be 90 to 100% back to normal. The board has put together another fun year of weekly events and Tournament play. I encourage all members to participate in events and The Club Championship Tournament in September. More details will follow. Missy Ravid has done an excellent job of planning fun events.

This is a special year for our league. We are celebrating 75 years of Ladies Golf At Winnetka. Hard to believe that a small group of women started something that has grown and prospered for 75 summers. We have planned a special day On Tuesday July 17, 2012. Invitations will be extended to past members to join us for a Shotgun start and Luncheon to follow. I will be asking that 2 or 3 members offer to step forward to coordinate this special occasion. Missy Ravid has volunteered to chair the event. Please think about helping us out. We also will hope to include members of the 9 Hole League, especially those who were once in the 18 hole group.
League play will start on Tuesday May 1 and continue through September 25.The Opening Dinner will be held at Hackney’s on Lake St. The Venue for the closing dinner on September 25th will be determined at a later date.  A complete list of weekly events and Tournament schedules will be found in the 2012 directory. The Presidents Cup will begin on Tuesday June 12. The Club Championship will start on September 4th and be the same format as last year, 3 days for Champion Flight and 2 days for all other flights. Mary Beth McAvoy will be coordinating the fun. Scheduling for course availability is the reason for the date changes.

Intersuburban League will again have home matches on Wednesday and will play away on Fridays. Maeve Walsh is our Chairman and will be recruiting everyone with a handicap of 34 and below to help bring our team some victories. This is a wonderful chance to learn 2 person match play and meet other IGL Players.

Please return your membership application to Kathy Zwier with your dues by March 24th. If you know of someone who would like to join our League, please contact Kathy.
